Being a passenger car market leader, Maruti Suzuki has registered 1,44,492 units of domestic sales in the month of April 2017. It has represented a double-digit growth of 23.4% compared to the year-ago month sales of 1,17,045 units. The company has received the best domestic sales in April 2017 month since around six to seven months. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,37,277 units in the domestic market in September 2017.
With the cumulative sales of Alto and Wagon R, the mini segment has reported total sales of 38,897 units in the last month and signified the growth of 21.9% compared to sales of 31,906 units in April 2016. Mid-sized sedan segment with the Maruti Ciaz saw overall sales of 7,024 units in the last month in the Indian market. Currently, the Ciaz is retailed through the Premium Nexa network along with the Ignis, Baleno and S-Cross.
The compact segment consisting of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Swift Dzire, Baleno and Ignis received 63,584 units, a growth of 39% compared to the sales in the year-ago month. Utility vehicles including Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and Ertiga reported a total sales of 20,638 units in the last month.
Domestic sales of the company increased in the last month, but the export market saw a drop of 29.4% with sales of 6,732 units. Maruti Suzuki sold total sales of 9,524 in April 2017.
To increase the domestic sales, the company has planned to introduce the new generation models, 2017 Maruti Swift and Swift Dzire in this year.
