Tata Motors launched Hexa to rival Mahindra XUV 500 and Toyota Innova Crysta

The Tata Hexa MPV-SUV crossover has been launched in the country at the opening cost of Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company has already started bookings for the Hexa and it is available in six different versions, Hexa XE, Hexa XM, Hexa XMA, Hexa XT, Hexa XTA and Hexa XT 4x4.
Tata Hexa will face the competition from the strong players, Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV 500. Here is the comparison of the three models in terms of dimensions, powertrain, features, safety and pricing.
Dimensions:
Tata Hexa is longer and wider than both models and also offering with the strong wheelbase. But, its height is lower compared to the XUV 500 and Innova Crysta.

Powertrain:
Tata Hexa is offered with the two different engines, 2.2-litre turbocharged VARICOR 320 diesel that delivers 148hp power at 4,000rpm and 320Nm torque and the 2.2-litre turbocharged VARICOR 400 diesel engine develops 154hp power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm torque. The small engine mated with the 5-speed manual version, whereas the other one mated with the 6-speed manual transmission. Moreover, the 6 MT variants also offered with an all-wheel drive system.
The Mahindra XUV 500 powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine rated at 140hp of power at 3560rpm and 330Nm torque at 1600-2800rpm. Higher variants offered with the AWD and good off-road capabilities.
The Toyota Innova Crysta offered by the three types of engines. The 2.7-litre petrol engine has a capability of 164hp of power at 5,200rpm and 245Nm torque at 4,000rpm and offered with the 5-speed MT and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.4-litre diesel engine churns out 148hp power and 343Nm torque and the third highly efficient develops 172hp power and 360Nm torque.
Safety:
The Tata Hexa offers with the maximum number of airbags, including co-driver, curtain and side airbags, in higher variants with driving aids like Electronic Stability Program, automatic headlamps, HDC - Hill Descent Control, HHC – Hill Hold Control, standard ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), as well.  The Innova Crysta gets seven airbags and ABS but it wasn’t featured ESP, EBD and adjustable driver seat. The XUV 500 gets ESP with rollover mitigation and the standard features.
Pricing:
The Innova is costlier than the XUV 500 and new Tata Hexa and offered with a price tag of Rs. 13.9lakhs to Rs. 21.19lakhs. The Mahindra XUV 500 carries a price tag of Rs. 12.46 for the basic variant and Rs. 18.54 lakh for the top version. The Tata Hexa is priced between Rs. 11.99lakh to Rs. 17.49lakh.
