The Indian carmaker has started the preparations to officially launch the all-new small crossover, Maruti Ignis on January 13, 2017. The Ignis is the first car in the line of Maruti Suzuki cars scheduled for the next year. Also, the upcoming sub-4metre car will be the third car to be retailed through the Maruti Suzuki’s premium dealerships under the NEXA chain.
Not only in the country, the Ignis all set to launch in some more markets as Suzuki Ignis, which has a slight variation in specifications compared to the India-specific model. In fact, the small crossover has been spotted in multiple places and showcased at the motor shows so that the global customers have an idea about that in terms of exterior design, interior layouts, wheel design, exterior features, as well.
The India-bound Ignis to be offered by the regular 1.2-litre petrol engine, while the Suzuki Ignis comes with either petrol or petrol hybrid engine in the international market. The diesel variants offered with the popular 1.3-litre diesel engine in the country and both fuel-type variants will be available with the manual transmissions as a standard option. The AMT gearbox is expected to be offered as an optional transmission.
Being a new Maruti car, the Ignis will feature the common parts like the instrument cluster, steering wheel, switchgear, infotainment system, as well. The high-end variants expected to get the Smartplay infotainment system, projector headlamps and LED DRLs.
The upcoming Maruti car will have a slot below the Swift hatchback, one of the top-ten selling passenger cars in the domestic market. The Ignis will give the competition to the Mahindra KUV 100 and other sub-4metre cars in the country. Expecting that the price to be available in the range of Rs 5.5 to 8lakhs.
