The standard variant of the Suzuki Ignis is previewed at the 2016 Bologna Motor Show in the Italian market. Being a crossover-styled hatchback, the Suzuki Ignis (Maruti Ignis) will introduce in Italy in early 2017. In the Indian market and other international markets, it will most probably go on sale in the starting months of 2017.
Based on the fresh reports, the Suzuki Ignis is the production-ready model of the Suzuki iM-4 concept that has been showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The upcoming crossover rides on the new generation lightweight platform that also shares in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The Indian-specific Maruti Ignis and global-specific Ignis are equivalent in terms of appearance while the variations in features, specifications, as well.
The Euro-specific Ignis measures 370mm length, 1660mm or 1690mm width and 1595mm height and has a long wheelbase of 2435mm. It is powered by the 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine that is rated at 88.47hp (66kW) of power at 6000rpm and 120Nm torque at 4,400rpm. Besides, the Ignis also featured with the SHVS on the same engine in the European market.
The Ignis FWD (front wheel drive) models to be offered with either 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT, while the 4WD (four-wheel drive) model exclusively to be offered on the 5-speed MT. The Suzuki Ignis to feature the high range of specifications, including the LED headlamps, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Android Auto, DCBS (Dual Camera Brake Support), weaving alert, as well. In India, Maruti Ignis to offer the different mechanical specifications and features and go on sale via the company’s NEXA network.
