2016 Volkswagen Tiguan LWB spied in the USA

Motor1 reported that the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan LWB model has been spied without any exterior cover in the USA. Earlier, Volkswagen Tiguan XL and LWB versions have been completely exposed in the Chinese market. Volkswagen Tiguan will be the upcoming sport utility vehicle in the global market and offered with the extended body dimensions and features.

The second generation US-specific Volkswagen Tiguan has been scheduled to take production in 2016, but the production of the crossover has been delayed. Some of the reports stated that the VW Tiguan SUV will be manufactured at the company’s Puebla plant in Mexico. Before initiating the production, the production-ready model has been tested in the last month.

Volkswagen Tiguan receives the MQB platform to increase its appearance as well as the performance than the previous one. The U.S-specific Tiguan LWB will measure 4,699 mm (185 inches) in length, 1,838mm (72.4 inches) of width and 1,633 (64.3 inches) of height. Being a first MQB based SUV, the Tiguan will have 2,791 mm (109.9 inches) wheelbase and come with the 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged gasoline engine, which is rated at the power of 184 hp. The global specific model will receive the 8-speed automatic transmission, which is sourced from AISIN.

The upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan LWB will be showcased at the 2016 Motor Show in Paris. Volkswagen’s Mexican plant will manufacture the models for the global markets, while the SAIC- Volkswagen JV will manufacture China-spec model.

Around 20 days back, the Indian-bound Volkswagen Tiguan has introduced in the UK at the cost of £22,510, approximately Rs. 20.44lakh. Moreover, the car has received 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. The Indian-based model made its first primer at the 2015 Frankfort show and after, introduced at 2016 Auto Expo. We expected that there is a huge difference between the Indian-specific and global-specific versions, especially in terms of engines and transmissions.

The upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan will cost around Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 lakhs in the Indian market and compete the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Ford Endeavour.
