Next-gen Volkswagen Polo to receive MQB Platform


The 2017 Volkswagen Polo is the sixth-generation model, which is to be received the company’s MQB A0, which is the smallest modular version of the MQB platform, according to the story from Auto Express. The next-gen VW Polo will reduce its overall weight by 70 to 85kgs than the existing model with the lightweight construction.

The prototype model of the future prospective Volkswagen Polo is expected to be showcased at the international motor show in Geneva in the next year. The rendering images indicated that the next-gen Polo will be featured the different front look with up and front grilles and headlights. The 2017 Polo has not only updated its design, but also increased its size than the current model. The current Polo measures the length of 3,972mm, the width of 1,901mm, height of 1,476mm and wheel base of 2,456mm.

A few of the reports indicated that the length of the hatchback will be increased to 4,000mm and the wheelbase will be stretched to 2,560mm. Moreover, the car comes with the spacious cabin and comfortable space at the back side.

The 2017 Volkswagen Polo model will be offered with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that will deliver the maximum power of 75bhp. The turbocharged version of the same 1.0-litre engine will generate 100bhp and 115bhp power output. Another side, the Polo will be available with the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two power outputs 140bhp and 160bhp.

Coming to the diesel variants, the global specific Polo will be offered with the 1.5-litre engine with the three outputs, 130bhp, 110bhp and 90bhp. But, a few of the reports indicated that the German-specific Polo model will be offered with the 1.6-litre diesel engine. The future potential model will be available with the transmission choices, 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox and the 7-speed automatic (dual-clutch) gearbox.

The higher versions of Polo will get the app-based features like Apple CarPlay, 9.5-inch infotainment system and Audi virtual cockpit display, fully digital instrument cluster. The base versions will get the standard features like the color infotainment system, steering wheel with the multiple keys, as well. To get the clear cut information regarding the next-gen VW Polo, the global customers will wait for one to one and half years.
