Top 10 selling cars in June; Maruti Alto and Dzire stood at 1st & 2nd slots

 Maruti Suzuki, country’s top carmaker has witnessed for the major drop in the segment of passenger vehicles, including SUVs, compact cars, sedans, MPVs, in the last month. After many years, the company was confined to first two positions in the list of top 10 selling cars in June 2016. There was a reason behind this is the company’s largest auto-component supplier, Subros Limited was damaged with the short circuit.

The Alto and SwiftDzire models obtained first and second positions respectively, even though the models received the low sales in the passenger car market. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 15,750 Alto cars in the last month and representing a drop of 25% from sales in June 2015, 21,115 units. Similarly, the Swift Dzire sales drop by 29 percent in June 2016 compared to last year. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 21,886 units of Dzire, best-selling sedan, in June 2015.

All Maruti Suzuki cars received a double-digit decline in the previous month, Wagon R has 10 percent drop in the sales of 11,962 units in the last month, against 13,221 units in June 2015. The Swift, popular hatchback, fell down to 6th position from the 3rd position with a 48 percent drop.

Hyundai’s Grand i10 sales grew by 41 percent in the previous month with 12,678units and the model ranked 3rd position in the list of best-selling cars. The Renault Kwid and Maruti Ritz enter the list with the sales of 9459 units and 4682 units and occupied 5th and 10th positions respectively. Moreover, the Celerio hatchback dropped to 9th position with 5,797 units sales in June 2016, from 7th position in the year-ago month.
Being a premium hatchback, the Baleno saw 6,976 unit’s sales, but the Elite i20’s y-o-y sales declined by 17 percent in the market. Elite i20, one of the Hyundai’s best-selling cars, had a drop of 24 percent in April and 17 percent in May.
