Maruti Suzuki domestic sales drop by 10.2% in June

The biggest Indian carmaker, Maruti Suzuki sales drop by more than 10 percent in the last month due to the fire accident at the vendor’s Subros facility. The manufacturing facility is the biggest supplier of Maruti Suzuki and it is the major hub for providing the air condition systems. The carmaker had seven best-selling models in the top 10 passenger vehicles in May but, it received a drop in June 2016 in the domestic market.

Maruti Suzuki has been sold a total of 92,133 units in the last month but, it has witnessed the positive result in the well accepted UV segment. Being a biggest carmaker, Maruti sales in the utility vehicle segment increased by 75.5 percent to the overall sales of 9,708 units. Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle segment models like Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Gypsy and S-Cross have more demand in the Indian auto market. Especially, the Vitara Brezza is the entry level compact SUV from the largest carmaker and the model has received the long waiting period due to lack of the production.

In the passenger vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki sales drop by 16.3 percent to 72,551 units compared to the same period in the last year. Sales of Maruti Suzuki small cars, Wagon R and Alto, drop by 19.3 percent to 27,712 units. With the models like Swift hatchback, Ritz, Celerio hatchback, Baleno and Swift Dzire, the compact car segment of Maruti Suzuki has a drop by 12.5 percent to a total of 39,971 units.

The Ciaz hybrid cars have more demand, even though the mid-sized sedan segment reported 2,800 units of sales and a drop of 24.3 percent against the year-ago period. The company does not yet reveal the clear sales of each and every product in the Maruti Suzuki range.

It is clear that the new Vitara Brezza and S-Cross models help the company to report the maximum growth in the UV segment. The upcoming cars, Ignis and Baleno RS, will increase the market share of the Indian carmaker in the PV market in the coming months.
