Mahinda Bolero is well accepted
as the best-selling and most popular SUV in the Indian market with its an iconic
design language, rigid body structure and performance. Now, the utility
manufacturer is planning to launch the popular Bolero in the sub-4metre SUV segment
to continue the standard brand name in the market. The reports indicated that
the sub-4metre Bolero could be coded as U108 and it is likely to be launched
sometime in this year.
Mahindra is interested in
offering the compact SUVs due to overcome the different government regulations,
like the registration ban of heavy diesel vehicles and large SUVs. Like these
of sudden acts, the Bolero sales fall down in the market and it is becoming as
an affordable product. The Bolero compact SUV will be available in the market
until the introduction of next-generation Bolero, which is coming to India in
2018-2019. It will be the fourth sub-4metre SUV from Mahindra after the highest
selling TUV 300, KUV 100 and NuvoSport.
There is no change in terms of
the shape as the new Bolero will be downsized its length without affecting the
cabin space. The reports recommended that the smaller Bolero will not be
benefited with any exterior and interior changes and new features.
The existing Mahindra Bolero has
a 2523cc m2DiCR diesel engine that develops the maximum power of 63PS at 3200
rpm and the torque of 195Nm at 1400 to 2200 rpm. Being a sub-4metre vehicle, it
will be featured the smaller 1.5-litre engine along with the optional
micro-hybrid technology.
In the Mahindra’s compact range,
the TUV 300 and NuvoSport models offered with the automatic gearboxes for
clutch-free driving. There is no guarantee whether the small Bolero will be
offered with the automatic variants or not.
The car comes with the very
responsive and performance based equipment like front and rear wheels, drum
brakes, as well. Like the existing
Bolero, the new one will have excellent off-roading capabilities with the high
ground clearance of 180mm and better ride quality suspension system. The regenerative
braking is expected to be benefited by the upcoming Mahindra compact SUV.
The small Mahindra Bolero will
cost around Rs. 5.5lakh to 8.5lakh (on-road) and increase the small SUV range
in the market.
