Air pollution is the major concern in India and the World Health Organisation has been rated that the several cities in the country are harmful to living. As of that reason, the government has been implementing several methods to control the emission standards as well reduce the pollution in the country. In the part of this, the government has decided to implement the Bharat Stage VI emission norms in the Indian-bound vehicles from April 1st, 2020.
The MORTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways) had invited recommendations and suggestions about BS VI implementation in February 2016, but the shareholders suggested a delay in the implementation of BS VI norm. Nitin Gadkari, union minister of MORTH, said that the Indian auto industry will move to BS VI norms directly from BS IV to see the pollution-free India along with the Clean India (Swacch Bharat).
Some of the sources recommended that the Union government will release a notification, which contains BS VI norms to be implemented in the existing vehicles by April 2021 and in the new vehicles by April 2010, in the coming days. Along with the Ministry, the SIAM also announced its commitment to implement the BS VI emission norms by the end of the decade. Vinod Dasari, president of SIAM said that the India has been the fastest country in adopting the new safety emission norms. The total automotive industry and the people expected that this move will be influenced to get the eco-friendly India in the next decades.
