Maruti Suzuki Ciaz – Best-Selling Sedan in India

The fourth-gen Honda City has reported at the more than 2 lakh sales in the domestic market, whereas the Ciaz is limited to around 1 lakh twelve thousand. Despite this, the biggest carmaker has sold a total of 25,066 units of Ciaz sedan in the duration of April to August 2016. While the Honda City credits 21,251 units in the same period.
To gain this success, the main factor is the sedan has been introduced with the parent company’s (Suzuki) mild hybrid system of SHVS in the diesel variants. The Ciaz hybrid or Ciaz SHVS is more eco-friendly, affordable and high-performance car compared to the regular models.
                              
The same kind of sales growth to be continued in the coming months as Honda is planning to introduce the mid-cycle refresh to its existing City in the next year. Maruti Suzuki won’t be waiting and the refreshed model will be launched soon. The forthcoming Ciaz will be powered by the M15 1.5-litre petrol engine that is rated at the high power of 10bhp at 5,900rpm and the torque of 133Nm at 4,100rpm.
Presently, the Ciaz hybrid is offered by the 1.3-litre diesel engine integrated with the SHVS to return the best fuel economy.  The same powertrain is also available in the Maruti Ertiga hybrid, eco-friendly multi-purpose vehicle. Besides, the petrol versions offered with the 1373cc engine, generating the power of 91bhp in 6,000rpm and the torque of 130Nm at 4,000rpm.
The Ciaz Hybrid returns the best ARAI certified fuel economy of 28.09kmpl and becomes the best fuel-efficient car. Moreover, the government offers the subsidy amount of Rs. 13,000 for mild hybrid technology under the Fame scheme.
