Two days back, automotive sources reported that the German carmaker’s Volkswagen Ameo diesel has been scheduled to launch on September 27, but the event was not directed. Besides, the fresh reports suggested that the company postpones the launch of Ameo diesel variants in the country. There is no particular reason to delay the launch, while all are expected that the company is planning to launch the new vehicle.
Currently, the Ameo petrol variants available in the price range of Rs. 5.31lakhs to Rs. 7.13 lakhs in ex-showroom of Delhi. There are almost five things to know regarding the next coming Ameo diesel. The entry level compact sedan is featured with the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine (four-cylinder) that has a maximum capacity to generate the outputs of 90PS power and the torque speed of 230Nm in the speed range of 1500rpm to 2500rpm.
Coming to the transmission, the Ameo will feature the two types of gearboxes, including the 7-speed DSG and 5-speed MT. In the future, the Ameo and its related Indian-specific models Polo and Vento will get the powerful diesel engine for the next generation customers.
Like the Ameo petrol versions, the diesel-powered sedan will be offered in three trims, Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline. The Ameo diesel measures the sub-4metre length of 3998mm, 1682mm width and 1498mm height.
The sub-4metre (compact) sedan is to be offered with the ABS and the dual airbags as standard features while the cruise control, dynamic multimedia music system with touchscreen and Mirror Link, static rain sensing wipers with lights, phonebook viewer and i-pod connectivity features are optional.
The price range of the Ameo diesel is mostly around to the existing variant’s cost. Additionally, the compact sedan will give more competition to the Tata Zest, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, and Ford Figo Aspire in India.
