According to the data from SIAM, the sales of passenger vehicles increased by 16.68 percent in the last month and accounted for 2,58,722 units. The strong increment has been achieved by the PV industry due to the favourable monsoons, new car launches, as well. The PV sales stood at 2,21,743 units in the same month of the last year.
The Indian carmakers, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra have contributed the highest share in the increment passenger vehicle sales. Coming to the products, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Baleno, Renault Kwid, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Ciaz Hybrid, as well influenced the market to have the highest PV sales in the last month.
The segment of passenger cars has the highest growth of 16 percent in the total sales of passenger vehicles. The following is the list of top-ten selling cars in August 2016. Like the previous months, Maruti Suzuki has continued its recognition in the last month with seven models. The Alto is the top one selling passenger car in the earlier month with 20,019units and the next second, third and fourth places occupied by the Swift Dzire, Wagon R and Maruti Swift respectively.
After Maruti Suzuki, the list is highlighted by Hyundai with the Grand i10 and Elite i20 models, which occupy fifth and seventh places in that order only. With the sales of 10,719units, the sixth slot is occupied by Renault Kwid, which gives the toughest competition to the smallest cars in India.
Again, the eighth, ninth and tenth slots booked by the Maruti Suzuki models, Baleno, Celerio and Ciaz. Baleno is the entry level premium hatchback and the model is expected to be delivered from the company’s Gujarat manufacturing unit from February 2017 to decrease the waiting period. Compared to July 2016 list, Baleno and Elite i20 models had exchanged positions in the last month.
