EPCA to ban sales of BS-III vehicles in India from April 2017

The EPCA - Environment Protection Control Authority has proposed that the sales of BS-III vehicles to be stopped in the country from April 2017. The Indian automotive industry is planning to introduce the new emission norms in the domestic market soon, now the organisation has made the amazing suggestion. The Indian government and Indian auto industry don’t want to take these kinds of steps, but that would create massive disorder. By the way, the Indian automakers to produce the vehicles that meet BS-IV emission norms, from April 2017. Besides, the Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) emission norm to be implemented in India-made vehicles from 2020 and this BS VI morn is similar to Euro 5 norms.
In the country, air pollution has caused major concern for the courts and government. More than 2000cc diesel vehicles banned for around 8 months in Delhi-NCR and after that, it was withdrawn to implement the green cess. Moreover, the Delhi odd-even rules implemented in two phases to control the air pollution levels in the national capital regions. In Haryana and Kerala states, 10-year-old vehicles banned, whereas the 15 years old petrol vehicles are also banned in Haryana.
Such kind of rules were disturbed the automakers so that the government plans for the permanent solutions to control the fuel powered vehicles. The Government of India is encouraging all automakers as well as customers to opt for the eco-friendly hybrid and electric cars. Additionally, the government is offering the subsidy amount on the hybrid and electric cars under the FAME scheme. Some of the Indian automakers have made their entries in the hybrid and electric vehicle segments. Mahindra made its entry with the e2o and e-Verito whereas Maruti Suzuki with the Ciaz Hybrid and Ertiga Hybrid. Volkswagen has confirmed that its electric cars to be introduced in the country by the end of this decade.
