Mahindra looking for Chinese partner to launch electric cars


Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian UV maker looking for the Chinese partner to manufacture and retail its existing electric cars in the Chinese market, which is one of the fast growing and biggest electric car markets. Currently, the Indian market has two electric cars, e2o and e-Verito (Verito electric) and the four-door version of the e2o is yet to be launched. As of now, the company sells its India-specific electric cars in the UK market only.

In the world, China is the biggest automotive market so that Mahindra plans to manufacture the electric cars, unlike the UK market. Mr Arvind Mathew, CEO of Mahindra Reva talks about the plan and said that the company is looking to build up the scale in the Chinese market.
It is not only providing the electric Powertrain technology to the Mahindra cars, but also readying to sell the technology to the automobile companies. Mahindra Reva has already started the discussion with some Chinese companies regarding the joint venture opportunity.  As per the latest news, Mahindra’s group manufacturer Ssangyong signed an LOI for the combined project with the Shaanxi Automobile Group of China.
For the Indian market, the car company is currently working on the Mahindra e2o four-door version that is expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the end of this year. Mahindra Halo is the new two-door sports car concept to be introduced soon and this concept can be served Mahindra Reva as a great brand builder in the global market.
