Maruti Suzuki introduces Baleno SHVS mild hybrid by next year



The latest automotive reports stated that the Baleno SHVS mild hybrid system to be launched in the Indian market by the next year. On the other hand, some of the reports indicated that the Baleno mild hybrid system may be considered for the Indian market, but on sale in export markets. There is no proper news from the Indian carmaker regarding the Baleno hybrid, but the highest percentage of the company’s stakeholders expected that it will come to India soon.
The company has already started the production of Baleno SHVS at the company’s Manesar plant for export markets. In the right-hand drive markets like Japan, United Kingdom and Australia, the Baleno offers with the Mild Hybrid (SHVS) system. Whereas the European markets to get the Baleno SHVS tech along with the 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine.
As per the reports, there are no instantaneous plans to launch the Baleno SHVS in India, while the technology can be updated for the Indian version. The production capacity of Baleno increases in the future with the new production plant in Gujarat so that the waiting period of Baleno will be reduced. Currently, the Baleno is manufactured at the full capacity of 10,000 to 12,000 units at the Manesar plant. Maruti has planned that the new Gujarat plant will make around 10,000 units in the period of Mid-February 2017 to March 2017.
In the Indian market, the SHVS system offered in the diesel variants of Maruti Ciaz and Maruti Ertiga models. Consequently, the company might consider the mild hybrid system on the Baleno diesel for enhancing the fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
In India, there is a greater benefit that is the hybrid and electric cars get the subsidy from the government FAME initiative. The SHVS qualified for the subsidy and the Ertiga and Ciaz cars are available with the subsidy amount of Rs.13,000 on the hybrid variants. In general, the government offers the marginal reduction of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 on the hybrid cars.
Introducing the SHVS on the Maruti Suzuki models to increase the fuel-efficiency, Ciaz hybrid achieved the mileage of 28.09kmpl. The Baleno diesel returns the mileage of 27.39kmpl and the addition of SHVS, it will command the best-in-class mileage.
