Renault Kwid continues to report robust sales in the Indian car market, while Renault India recalled 50,000 units of Kwid due to the faulty fuel hose. As per the latest report, only the 0.8L variant of the Renault Kwid affected by the faulty fuel system. For clarification, the company has conducted the voluntary inspection of the 800cc (0.8L) variants of Kwid at its service centres. The Kwid cars manufactured in the period of October 2015 to May 18, 2016, to attend the check-up for analyzing the functionality of fuel system and its related flow issues.
The total process of evaluation will be done without any charge to the customers as well as the affected cars will be added with the new fuel hose clip. The sources reported that only 10 percent of the recalled cars to be impacted by the issue, but there is no further information from Renault India on this issue.
The Renault Kwid has launched in September 2015 and reported the highest sales in the small car segment in India. In the first six months of this fiscal, Renault has sold 56,028 units of the Kwid, which was the seventh top-selling car in September 2016 at 10,558 units.
The Renault Kwid powered by the 800cc engine is priced at Rs. 2.64lakhs to Rs. 3.73lakhs while the 1000cc variants cost around Rs. 3.95lakhs in ex-showroom of Delhi. The 1000cc variants of Renault Kwid were launched around two months back in India to increase the brand range in the current market. The sources posted that the automatic versions of Kwid (Kwid AMT) coming to India soon.
