Maruti Ignis to launch in the fourth quarter of FY2017: RS Kalsi

Mr RS Kalsi, ED of Maruti Suzuki (Marketing & Sales) confirmed that the Maruti Ignis, upcoming small crossover will launch in the period of January 2017 to March 2017 (fourth quarter of this fiscal year). The small crossover had its Indian debut at the Delhi Motor Show (2016 Auto Expo) along with the Baleno RS concept.
Maruti Suzuki has reportedly announced to introduce the Ignis crossover in the festival season, but due to the high demand for the Vitara Brezza and Baleno hatchback models, the new model launch was postponed to the fourth quarter of this financial year. Mainly, the company is now focused on the reduction of waiting periods of Baleno that stands at up to 33 weeks and Vitara Brezza, which receives up to 27 weeks.
The Ignis crossover features the automatic climate control, 15 or 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with the LED Daytime Running Lights, reverse camera, steering mounted controls, digital MID, SmartPlay system with the touchscreen and reverse camera.
Maruti Ignis will be offered by the two types of petrol engines, 1.3-litre DDiS diesel and 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engines, which is paired to both the manual and automatic (AMT) gearboxes. There are chances to get the power petrol and diesel engines for the Ignis crossover, but the company is not confirmed the mechanical specifications.
As per the news, the Ignis crossover will be sold via the company’s premium NEXA network. Now, the Baleno and Maruti S-Cross are retailed through the Nexa outlets, which will be expanded around the country by the end of this decade.
