Four best high mileage compact sedans in India

The compact sedan segment also increasing in the auto market along with the demanding and popular compact SUV segment. It was the segment limited to few cars in the past years in the country and now the variety of models enter this segment to target the existed models. Moreover, the buyers are looking for higher mileage cars with excellent road presence and impressive appearance. Here is the list of high mileage compact sedans in the domestic passenger car market.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire (26.59kmpl):

The Swift Dzire is one of the high selling cars in India and offered with the diesel and petrol versions. The diesel version of the compact sedan is more economical and returned ARAI rated mileage of 26.59kmpl with the 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol versions powered by the 1.2-litre engine and have the capacity to return 20.85kmpl of mileage. Even though it is the old sedan, the Dzire is recognised as the best fuel-efficient sedan. Recently, the Indian carmaker has introduced the automatic versions, which return around 18.5kmpl of fuel economy.

Swift Dzire price: Rs. 5.23lakh to Rs. 8.58lakh

Ford Figo Aspire (25.83kmpl):

Ford Figo is the second fuel-efficient sub-4metre sedan in the Indian passenger car market and returned 25.83kmpl on the diesel versions and 18.16kmpl on the petrol versions. The diesel versions available with the 1.5-litre 99bhp diesel engine and petrol trims comes with the 1.2-litre engine that develops 87bhp, 112Nm and mated with either manual or automatic gearbox. The compact sedan car is developed based on the front wheel drive system to send power to the front wheels. The automatic versions of the Ford Figo are rated at 17kmpl of mileage with 110bhp and 136Nm maximum outputs.

Ford Figo Aspire: Rs. 5.21lakh to Rs. 8.48lakh

Honda Amaze (25.80kmpl):

Honda offered the sub-4metre sedan, Amaze in the domestic car market and it is the first diesel vehicle from the company. The Amaze diesel trims available with the 1498cc engine that is rated at the maximum outputs of 99bhp and 200Nm and returned the mileage of 25.8kmpl. The 1198cc petrol engine powers the Amaze and returns 17.8kmpl by generating the 87bhp and 109Nm outputs.

Honda Amaze price: Rs. 5.36lakh to Rs. 8.26lakh

Hyundai Xcent (24.40kmpl):

Launched a couple of years back, the Hyundai Xcent is one of the best fuel-efficient sub-4metre sedans in India. The diesel versions claimed 24.40kmpl of fuel economy with the 1.1-litre 3-cylinder engine whereas the petrol cars rated at 19.1kmpl. A total of 12 versions offered in India and 2 trims out of them are offered with the automatic gearboxes and returned 16.1kmpl.
