Mahindra registers 11% sales growth with 40,656 units in May

The utility vehicle leader in India, Mahindra & Mahindra has registered the growth of 11 percent in May 2016 with the sales of 40,656 units. In the year-ago period, the carmaker sold a total of 36,706 vehicles, including passenger vehicles, exports, and commercial vehicles. All segments except cars accounted for the best sales in the domestic market.

Mahindra sold a total of 36,613 units in the domestic market and registered the sales growth of 10 percent compared to the last year May month sales, 33,369 units. In the May month, the export market has 21 percent growth with sales of 4,043 units, while the year-ago period sales were 3,337 units.

The category of passenger vehicles, including cars, utility vehicles and vans, gets the single-digit growth (8%) with 19,635 unit’s sales. Mahindra’s passenger vehicle sales in May 2016 were 18,135 units. With the new UVs like TUV 300, KUV 100 and NuvoSport, the UV segment registered 18,648 units and accounted for 10% growth compared to 16,980 units in the year-ago month. The cars and vans segment has sold 987 units in May 2016 as against 1155 units during May 2015, a decline of 15%.

The segment of commercial vehicles, including LCV and MHCV, posted a growth of 15 percent with the sales of 13,109 units in the last month. The medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment gets 46 percent growth, whereas the LCV segment has positive sales in the last month.

Mahindra introduced all-new electric vehicle, e-Verito in the Indian car market to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle segment. Mahindra is the first Indian company has offered the first electric vehicle e2o in India and eVerito is the second product introduced under the FAME scheme.
