Next-generation SsangYong Rexton to attend 2016 Paris Motor Show


The previous reports suggested that the South Korean company, SsangYong is working on the next-generation Rexton with the improved build quality and features. Now, the automotive sources expected that the prototype model of the future-gen Rexton is to attend the upcoming Paris motor show. It will get the new platform to decrease its overall weight by around 50kgs compared to its predecessor. Moreover, the new car will be available in the corresponding market with the attractive aerodynamic design and increased engine performance.

The new Rexton is most probably developing for the UK customers and to be released in the next year. There is no confirmation from SsangYong, but it is expected to be introduced in the Indian market as the manufacturer owned by Mahindra. Currently, the Mahindra Rexton is under sale in India with a variety of luxury features. The new car from the Korean-based company will be powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is rated at 178bhp in the existing car. The new SUV will offer with the full-time all-wheel drive system, intelligent torque on demand and manual transmission to generate maximum power. The Rexton automatic variants to be introduced by the auto manufacturer for the clutch-free driving in the heavy traffic roads.

The upcoming SUV will be introduced with the wide range of specifications, compromising fully automatic climate control, stylish bumper, integrated fog lamps, turn indicators and new interior design layout. With the premium quality of equipment like leather upholstery large TFT screen and wood finished dashboard with the chrome inserts, the inside part of the Rexton will get the high-class feel than the existed one.

The new SsangYong Mahindra car will get more luggage space that is extended when folding the third row two seats. At the safety side, the Rexton might also get airbags, technology-based safety equipment including blind sport detection and lane departure warning.

The new Rexton SUV is to get the extra body length than the current one that measures 4755mm length, 1900mm width and 1785mm height (1840mm height with roof rails).  The complete details, in terms of design, technology, mechanical specifications and features will be disclosed after its official reveal at the Paris show. According to the automotive reports, the third-generation Korando is also working by SsangYong with the new Tivoli’s platform. Apart from this, SsangYong is working on the electric car, which is the first electric SUV to be introduced in 2019.
