Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan launched at Rs. 5.14lakh

Volkswagen has been launched the much-awaited model, Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan in the Indian car market at an affordable price tag of Rs. 5.14lakh in ex-showroom of Mumbai. The bookings for the Indian-specific VW Ameo opened at all authorised Volkswagen dealerships in the last month and the deliveries to be commenced from the next month. The sub-four-metre sedan will be offered with the petrol variants at the moment and available in three versions, Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.

Being a first compact sedan from the German carmaker, the Ameo comes with the highly efficient 1.2-litre MPI three-cylinder engine, which is available in the regular Polo hatchback models. The petrol car will generate the maximum outputs of 74bhp power and 110Nm torque with the support from the 5-speed manual gearbox.

Most of the customers confident that the Ameo will be introduced in diesel versions also but, the company offered the Ameo petrol cars. According to the reports, the diesel version of the VW Ameo will be introduced later in the domestic market as the company is working on the new diesel engines. The introduction of Ameo diesel will be commenced after the end of recalling process, which is to be started from July in India.

Based on the Volkswagen Polo platform, the compact sedan car is developed and available with the dual airbags for driver and passenger at the front side and ABS system as standard safety features in three variants.  The new Volkswagen car comes with the variety of styling cues on the exterior, such as new alloy wheels, all-new rear profile and attractive front with the new front bumper, projector headlamps and horizontal fog lamps.

The Ameo cabin will be equipped with the touch screen music system with iPod connectivity, Mirror link and phonebook/SMS viewer. The telescopic steering wheel, cooled glove box, EORVMs with LED turn indicators and rear AC vents offered in the new sedan car. This is the special made-for-India car from Volkswagen entered in the compact sedan segment to target the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Swift Dzire. The team of Volkswagen India has expected that the Ameo will strong the company’s presence in the compact sedan segment.
