Upcoming Cars Maruti Ignis and Next-gen Swift Spied in Different Locations

Maruti Suzuki upcoming cars, Ignis and the next-generation Swift hatchback, have been spied in the different locations with the total covered body. The Ignis is the sub-compact crossover spotted for the overall performance testing in the Indian market, whereas the 2015 Swift hatchback model tested by the carmaker in Italy. Both models get the new design architecture that is to be designed based on the respective platforms and the high range of equipment.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis:  

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is the much-awaited model, which has been disclosed at the motor show of the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2016. It has been spotted for several times in India with the heavy camouflage and the sources confirmed that the Ignis car will have a new look at the final stage compared to the production-ready model. The passenger car market expected that the Ignis will be the next launch of Maruti Suzuki in India and the company plans to launch it during the festival period.

The Ignis is based on the parent company’s new iM4 concept to receive the unique look among the Maruti Suzuki range. In the latest images, the model features the make-shift fog lamps but, the production-ready model showcased with the production fog lamps. The rest of the exterior equipment like boxy headlamps, prominent front grille and crossover-style silhouette similar to the production model.

The Ignis measures the length of 3,700mm, 1,660mm of width, 1,595mm of height and 2,435mm of wheelbase. In the Japanese market, the Ignis will get the extensive range of features like the four-wheel drive system, Suzuki’s adaptive DCBS – Dual Camera Braking System with three cameras and hill decent control.

Coming to the specifications, the car will be available with the petrol variants with the 1.2-litre engine and diesel variants with the 1.3-litre motor. Moreover, the transmission options, 5-speed manual gearbox and the CVT automatic from the Baleno will be offered. There is a chance to offer the 1.3-litre Dualjet petrol variant with the SHVS mild hybrid system in the Indian market.

Next-gen Swift (2017 Swift):

The Indian carmaker is working on the next generation Swift hatchback, which is expected to attend the upcoming Paris Motor Show in October 2016. The upcoming Swift will be based on the newly launched Baleno hatchback’s lightweight and rigid platform. Additionally, the next-generation hatchback will be featured the Baleno’s exterior styling, in terms of liquid flow design. The Swift is to be updated heavily by the carmaker compared to the Baleno for offering the highest performance and best fuel economy. 

Whatever the features, compromising SmartPlay touch screen system, multi-functional steering wheel, as well available in the Baleno will be featured by the 2017 Swift model. There is no official information regarding mechanical specifications, but the car will continue the 4-cylinder (K-Series) petrol engine. The Swift Sport version will receive the 1.0L BoosterJet engine used in the Japan-specific Baleno car and India-bound Baleno RS, which will be launched in the festival season.
