Mahindra’s SsangYong to launch first electric SUV in 2019


Mahindra & Mahindra owned South Korean Auto Company, SsangYong is planning to introduce its all-electric SUV in the passenger car market in 2019. It will be the first electric vehicle from the company, according to the report from Autocar India. The Korean-based car company is working on the new electric crossover, which will be unveiled in the global market in 2019.

The new crossover from SsangYong is codenamed as C300, which is likely to be launched in the next year and the same car will receive total electric variant in two to three years. The SsangYong new crossover is to be slotted between two popular products, Tivoli and Tivoli XLV, in terms of size.

Mahindra group has acquired two companies, Mahindra Reva electric vehicle and the Italian design firm, Pininfarina. These two companies expected to be involved in the SsangYong’s electric SUV crossover project. With the association of Mahindra Group companies, the product will be targeted the existed and upcoming electric vehicles in the global market.

The South Korean company has been showcased its new Tivoli at the Delhi Auto Expo in February and the same product is to launch sometime in the next year in the SUV market in India.

Next-generation Rexton is under working process and to be scheduled for Paris debut with both petrol and engine options. The all-new Rexton is coded as Y400 that will get the autonomous braking system and lane-departure warning. Moreover, the manufacturers plan to introduce all-new third generation Korando, which will be received the styling cues, suspension bits and monocoque architecture from the Tivoli. Here is no guarantee whether the company will introduce these two SUVs, third-generation Korando and all-new Rexton in the Indian market or not.
