The Indian made Maruti SuzukiBaleno has been launched in the Australian market with the starting on-road
price tag of AU$15,990. The Baleno hatchback is available in two kinds of versions,
GL and GL Turbo. Australia is one of 100 export markets confirmed for Baleno
hatchback, which measures the length of 3,995mm, the width of 1,745mm, the
height of 1,470mm and comes with the ground clearance of 120mm and wheelbase of
2,520mm.
The Australian-specific Baleno GL
variant available with the naturally aspirated 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol
engine received from the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The petrol engine has the capacity
to produce the maximum power of 92hp (68kW) at the speed of 6,000rpm and the
torque of 130Nm at 4000rpm. The Baleno GL version to be featured either 5-speed
manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
The Baleno GLX Turbo model is
powered by the three-cylinder, 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine, which returns the
maximum outputs of 110hp (82kW) at the high speed of 5,500rpm and the torque of
160Nm at the speed range of 1,500 to 4,000rpm. This version is only available with
the 6-speed automatic gearbox for hassle free driving.
The Baleno GL version features
the electrically adjustable mirrors, foglights, LED DRLs (Daytime Running
Lights), cruise control, tilt steering wheel and infotainment system with the
touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Smartphone integration and satellite navigation. Whereas
the Baleno GLX Turbo model has benefited from the 16-inch alloy wheels, HID
projector headlights, chrome door handles, tilt and telescopic steering,
keyless entry and start and automatic climate control.
The entire design is similar to
the existing model in India, but the Australian-specific (global-specific) model
comes with a few of additional features.
