The Indian carmaker has postponed
the launches of its upcoming cars, Ignis small crossover and Baleno RS in the
Indian market due to reduce the waiting period of Baleno and Vitara Brezza
models. Initially, the company has decided to delay the Ignis launch and now,
the Autocar Professional reported that the introduction of Baleno RS will be
delayed until the end of this year or early 2017.
Instead of launching the new
models, Maruti Suzuki has decided to deliver the booking orders of the Vitara
Brezza (compact SUV) and Baleno, which were reportedly scheduled to launch in the
festival season of October or November 2016. The production capacity of both
models is increased, even though both cars received 6 to 9 months of waiting
period based on the type of version, transmission as well as the region.
If Maruti Suzuki is to launch the
Ignis and Baleno RS without considering the demand for both cars, the new models
will not meet the higher sales as the Gurgaon and Manesar manufacturing plants
are running at the full production capacity of the premium hatchback and the
entry-level compact SUV.
Baleno has been launched around
10 months back and still, the Indian-made car maintains top sales figures in
the domestic market. The Baleno was recognised as one of the top 10 selling cars
in the last two months. Similarly, the Vitara Brezza influences the carmaker’s
UV segment and targets the best-selling compact SUVs, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra TUV
300, as well.
In the meantime, the company has
hiked the prices of both cars as of the segment’s demand and the company’s strategic
objectives. The new prices effected from this month only, Vitara Brezza is available
at Rs. 7.19 to 9.99Lakhs and the Baleno hatchback is available at Rs. 5.25 to
8.36lakhs, Ex-showroom, New Delhi.
