The Indian carmaker becomes the
top player in the UV segment with its newly launched sub-4metre car, Vitara Brezza
in the last month. The model has been launched just 5 to 6 months back, but the
compact SUV has marked its presence in the top level in the Indian market. It is
the first sub-4metre (compact) SUV from Maruti Suzuki introduced in only diesel
variants, even though the car targets the best-selling UV models. In a concise
manner, the Vitara Brezza makes the company’s UV segment strong with its good
looking exterior design and performance.
In July, the company’s UV segment
has increased to 151.3 percent with the highest contribution of the Vitara
Brezza compact SUV. Maruti sold 17,382 units of utility vehicles, Vitara
Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, Gypsy and Grand Vitara, in the last month, as compared
to 6,916 units in July 2015. The UV leader in India, Mahindra has sold 15,962
units in the UV segment in July and hold the second position.
Maruti Suzuki has retrieved total
sales of 10,232units of the Vitara Brezza in the last month. While the Hyundai Creta
has reported a total of 13,429 units in the last month, 7,981 units sales from the India market and
5,488 units from exports.
With the introduction of Vitara
Brezza, the popular utility vehicles, Mahindra Bolero, TUV 300, as well
affected in the market. The Bolero is the best-selling UV for the past 10 years,
but it is struggling in the market with the arrival of Vitara Brezza, followed
by Hyundai Creta.
The company’s net profit
increased to 23% in the first quarter of this fiscal year with the new models, Baleno
and Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV is under the waiting period due to the high demand.
Moreover, the company has committed to introduce the petrol versions in early
2017 with the higher sales of sub-4metre SUV.
Another side, Maruti Suzuki has
hiked its new model’s prices, up to Rs. 20,000 on Vitara Brezza and 10,000 on
Baleno hatchback. The new price range of Vitara Brezza is Rs. 7.19lakh to Rs.
