The Indian automotive industry witnessed
the positive number of sales in the last month with the good monsoon. MarutiSuzuki India reported 13.9 percent growth with 1,25,778 vehicles, Hyundai has
12.9% growth and Mahindra was reported to 20 percent growth. Similarly, the
passenger car market has respectable sales with the new car launches and demand
for utility vehicles in the Indian market.
Similar to the April and June
months, Maruti Suzuki models are the top 4 selling passenger cars in the last
month, but the models witnessed for negative sales. Alto is the highest selling
car reported the decline of 11 percent to 19,844 units, as against 22,212 sales
in the year-ago period. Similarly, the total July sales of Swift Dzire, Wagon R
and Swift declined to 2%, 2% and 26% respectively, compared to the sales in
July 2016.
Hyundai sold 11,961 units of Grand
i10 in the last month, a growth of 38% compared to the corresponding month sales
of the previous year. The new products Renault Kwid and Baleno hatchback are
the 6th and 7th best-selling cars. The best hatchback,
Hyundai Elite i20 has seen a drop of 18 percent with the entry of Balenohatchback.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has the noticeable
growth of 146 percent in the Indian market with 5,162 units, as against 2,099
units in July 2015. The outstanding sales received by the Maruti Ciaz with the
introduction of hybrid variants and the product influenced to the segment
growth. Along with the Ciaz, Maruti Suzuki Celerio has 0.1 percent growth with
7,792 unit’s sales.
The 7 products in top 10 selling
cars are from the Indian leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, two cars from Hyundai
and 1 from Renault. The Honda cars, Mahindra cars, Toyota cars, as well missed
from the list in the last month. Except the Ciaz, whatever the best sellingcars in June are the top selling cars in July, but the models exchanged the positions.
