Mahindra & Mahindra sales increased 14% in July 2016


Mahindra & Mahindra, the utility vehicle manufacturer, announced its last month (July) sales reports and reported that it has a growth of 14 percent in total sales. M&M sold a total of 39,458 units in July 2016, whereas the year-ago period accounts for 34,652 units. All the segments, including passenger vehicles, M&HCV (Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles), domestic sales and exports, registered positive growth in the last month.

The sales of Mahindra’s passenger vehicles stood at 17,356 units in the last month (July 2016) compared to 14,456 units during the year-ago month, a growth of 14%. The segment of Mahindra’s exports has registered 16 percent growth with the overall sales of 4,153 units in last month, compared to July 2016 sales, 3565 units.

The passenger vehicles, including cars, vans and utility vehicles, accounted for 20 percent growth with 17,356 units in the earlier month, compared to the year-ago period sales, 14456 units. Mahindra sold 13,168 units of commercial vehicles in July 2016 and representing a growth of 8 percent from the year-ago month sales, 12,148 units.

With the introduction of the Mahindra’s new cars, The TUV 300, NuvoSport and KUV 100 and the existing cars like the Scorpio and XUV 500, the company’s sales were increased in the market. The new cars, KUV 100, XUV 500, as well have a great demand not only in the domestic market, but also in the export markets, like Nepal, Hungary, as well. The special variant of the new sub-4metre car KUV 100 is developed for the Hungarian market.

Coming to the 2017 financial year report, Mahindra sold a total of 1,60,986 units in the duration of April to July 2016, registering a growth of 12 percent from the year-ago period sales, 1,44,219 units. The segments of passenger vehicles, utility vehicles and commercial vehicles accounted for 13%, 15% and 11% growth respectively in the last four months of FY 2017.

We at Mahindra are happy to have a growth of 14 percent in July 2016. Besides, we expected to have better results in the rest of the financial year with the new launches. The coming festival season will be better for the automobile industry so that Mahindra’s sales to be increased in the coming months, according to Pravin Shah, President & CE of M&M (Automotive).
