The Suzuki Ignis (Maruti Ignis),
upcoming small crossover in India, has been disclosed at the 2016 GIIAS motor
show in Indonesia. The showcased model was the AMT version of the Suzuki Ignis,
which will be available with petrol and diesel engines in the Indian market.
But, it will be offered by the single petrol engine in the Indonesian market. The
1.2-litre VVT petrol engine used in the Indian-specific Baleno is available in
the Indonesia-specific Ignis and the engine has rated at the output capacity of
83hp and 115Nm.
The Indonesian-specific Ignis
measures the length of 3,700mm, the width of 1,690mm and the height of 2,435mm.
Moreover, it is offered with the 2,435mm long wheelbase and 180mm of high
ground clearance. The interior of the Ignis comes with the attractive design
features, including the dual tone dashboard with the SmartPlay display, new
steering wheel design and unique HVAC controls.
In the Indian market, the Ignis
is to be launched at the end of this year or early 2017. Moreover, the Japanese
carmaker has confirmed that the European-specific Ignis crossover will attend
the next coming 2016 Paris Motor Show. It will all set to launch in January
2017 in the European markets.
The Ignis will be the production
version of the iM-4 concept, which was previewed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The small crossover is expected to receive the advanced lightweight platform,
which will also be offered in the fourth generation Suzuki Swift, according to
sources.
The European-specific Suzuki
Ignis will most probably introduce with the mild hybrid system of SHVS (Smart
Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki). The European-specific crossover will also offer with
the Baleno’s 1.2-litre petrol engine like the Indonesia-specific Ignis.
The Ignis will reportedly rival
with the Mahindra KUV 100 in the Indian market and cost around Rs. 5 lakh for the
base variant and Rs. 7 lakh on the top end variant.
