To modernise the police force and upsurge the operational
capacities in the urban areas, Punjab deputy CM, Sukhbir Singh Badal, has
allotted 150 new Maruti Ertiga vehicles to the police department. The Punjab
government has sanctioned a total amount of Rs. 10 crores for 150 new Ertiga
vehicles. In this second phase, the police commissioner's office of Ludhiana
will get 50 vehicles, police commissioner's office of Jalandhar and Amritsar
will get a total of 60 (30 each) Maruti Ertiga cars, SSP Bathinda will get 12 cars
and SSP SAS Nagar will get 28 vehicles.
Out of 150 Ertiga vehicles for the police department, 100
cars to be launched by Punjab CM, and this plan was aimed to quickly reach the
corresponding locations, thereby the response time is to be decreased. With an
aim to stay in touch with the rural and urban areas of Punjab in just
kilometres away, the Punjab government had announced this second phase.
The Punjab Govt.
had invested a total amount of Rs. 15 crores in
the first phase for 220 Mahindra Bolero cars and 400 Honda Unicorn
Motorcycles. Under the scheme of RRPRS (Rapid
Rural Response Scheme), the government has introduced the first phase. With the
scheme launched by Badal, Deputy CM,
the rural areas get the police assistance in just less than 20 minutes of time.
